Amory – Altie Mae “Granny” Wren, 91, died on Thursday, November 27, 2014, at River Place Nursing Home. Born on January 6, 1923, in Tishomingo County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Lucy Hale Holder.
Altie attended school in Itawamba County. On August 3, 1946, she married the love of her life, Elmo Lindsey Wren. A mother of three children, she was caring, loving and always helping others. Altie worked as a seamstress at Red Kap for many years. She was a member of Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. Her family was the most important thing to her in her life. She also enjoyed fishing and quilting. She loved music, especially Old Country and Gospel.
Survivors include her daughter, Joann West, Becker; and son, Ray Wren (Gail), Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Inez McElwanye (James), Montgomery; Jessica Macon (Brad), Montgomery; Cim Wren and Brandy Wren, Sulpher, LA; Ashley Wren, Tupelo; Talisha Thompson (James), Wren; a host of great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lora Arnold.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 29 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. James "Lamar" Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Keyes Cemetery, Itawamba County. Pallbearers will be James Holder, James Thompson, Steve Winkler, Johnny Brown, Roger Crane, and Frankie Nanney.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
