Alpha Mae Koonce Little
Amory—Alpha Mae Koonce Little, 95, left her earthly course on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at NMMC in Amory. Born in Mobile, AL on September 21, 1924, she was a daughter of David Leo and Olga Patterson Koonce.
Alpha graduated from Davis High School in Houston, TX. She worked for Great Southern Life Insurance Company for several years. In 1941, she married Relda Robert Little, and together they raised a loving family. She was a faithful member of Amory Church of Christ, where she taught the Ladies Class on Tuesday mornings.
Alpha had a very sharp mind, and stayed informed about everything going on in her community. A kind, gentle, and graceful Christian lady, she cultivated countless friendships throughout her lifetime. Alpha was a wonderful cook, and many were fans of her teacakes and cookies. She was always cleaning her house and was known for her sense of humor. Alpha could light up a room in laughter.
She was passionate about helping others and loved to entertain. She enjoyed playing various card games and dominoes with her friends. In her free time, Alpha liked cooking, crocheting, and knitting. She valued independence and was known for her thoroughness in all she accomplished. Alpha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Alpha is survived by her son, Robert Wayne Little (Waughnie); daughter-in-law, Diane Adams (Eddie); sister-in-law, Margie Piper; grandchildren, Jeff Morris (Kim), Christie Morris; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Devin, and Hayden Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Relda Robert Little; son, Richard Doyle Little; and grandson, Daryl Little.
A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, with Mr. Phil Sullivan and Mr. Abel Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery in Amory. Pallbearers will include Rick Lochridge, Stanley Odom, Roy Lee Lindsey, Wayne Howell, Scott Cooper, and Jerry Cooper.
Visitation will be from 1PM until the service hour on Saturday.
