Born on October 19, 1920, in Union County, MS, she was a daughter of the late Jalma Octave and Effie Jane Swords Fooshee. Alma married Hester Pickle on April 27, 1946, who preceded her in death in 2010. She worked at Amory Garment Company before she started her family, then she was a Mother and homemaker. She was a member of Freedonia Baptist Church in Ingomar but St Andrews United Methodist Church in Amory was her church home. Mrs. Pickle enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, crocheting, sewing and quilting. She loved following sports teams her children were involved with. She is survived by her sons, Larry Pickle (Faye Reed) of Amory and Jerry ‘Horsey’ Pickle (Julie) of Missouri City TX; daughter, Janice Pickle of Amory; grandchildren, Josh Pickle, Ivy Kathryn Pickle Dozier, Matthew Pickle (Ashlin) and Jonathan Pickle; great-grandchildren, Audrey Dozier, Brooklin Pickle, Alissa Pickle, Brittney Alexander and Colton Moffitt; great-great-grandchild, Branion Pickle Loden; nieces and nephews including special nieces, Sharon Fooshee Grace and Mary Fooshee; great-nephew, Branion Woody; her in-laws, Jessie Fooshee, Eva Nell Hunter, Lester & Linda Pickle and Martha & Ike Word. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hester Pickle and her brothers, Casey, Octave, Joel and Carl Ray ‘Monkey’ Fooshee.A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 18, 2011, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Sisk and Mary Nell Dorris officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Richard Aldridge, Jim Dye, Thomas and Billy Griffith, Larry Palmer and Dan Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr Eddie Yoe and Gentivia Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Friends Respite Center, POB 117, Amory MS 38821 or St Andrews United Methodist Church Youth Ministries, 1123 Legion Dr, Amory MS 38821.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
