Alice Virginia Ware Edwards
Amory – Alice V. Edwards, 87, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at her residence in Amory, MS and began her new life worshiping her Savior and Lord. She was born on November 2, 1936, in Houston, MS to the late Cassie Pascal Ware and Lucille Dendy Ware.
Alice grew up in a family of five in Monroe County and graduated from Hamilton High School. At the age of 19, a handsome young man, Sgt. Horace Edwards, returned home from serving in the military in Germany. She caught his attention and they started dating. Soon thereafter, they were married on February 24, 1956 and they were blessed by God with two sons. She loved Horace dearly and was a supportive wife while her husband served for over 23 and half years through the Korean and Vietnam War. Alice was a proud military wife and loved the United States of America.
Her career was the most challenging and rewarding one as she was a homemaker for the Edwards family. She loved baking for everyone, sewing just about anything, and just raising her family through the years. Alice was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church and her faith in the Lord was evident to all that met her. Her family calls themselves blessed to be raised by a woman with such a servant heart. Alice was passionate about the March of Dimes and she liked to listen to Gospel music.
Besides her family, some of her close friends were Joyce and Charlie Holcomb as well as Tammy Pigg. She just listened well to others, would do anything for anyone, and also enjoyed an occasional outing especially shopping for shoes! She was one of a kind, proud of her family’s genuine Christian faith and patriotism which she and Horace helped instill. Their reunion in Heaven must have been sweet.
She will be missed yet her family know that she is at peace and completely healed.
Left behind to treasure the memories shared are her sons, Terry Edwards (Pat), Becker, Tim Edwards, Georgia; grandchildren, Jesse Elbert (Eric), Jason Edwards (Jennifer), Scott Edwards (Maggie), Erin Welch (Jason), and Erica Edwards; nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace Edwards; brothers, Herman Ware and Earl Ware.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 26, at 3:00 pm at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Dr. John Maxey officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Amory with Pallbearers being Scott Edwards, Jason Edwards, Jason Welch, Seth Welch, Austin Edwards, and Conner Edwards.
