Amory – Alvin Joseph Bourgeois, 70, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014, at his home. He was born in Lutcher, Louisiana, on March 19, 1944, to the late Alvin W. Bourgeois and Evelyn Marie Anderman Bourgeois.
Alvin graduated from Lutcher High School, Louisiana. Upon graduation, he entered into the United States Army and served from 1965 until 1971. He then worked for many years as a pipefitter in construction and a journeyman. On April 28, 1989, he married his wife Lucy Bourgeois and they were married for 25 years. He was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church. A wonderful father and husband, he enjoyed spending time with his caring wife Lucy and his daughter Terry. His favorite musician was Elvis Presley. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and watching LSU football. His pets, Loretta and Bubbles, were very special to him as well.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Russell Bourgeois, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Lucy Bourgeois of Amory; his daughters, Ashley Bourgeois of Orlando, FL, Terry Rowell of Amory, Susan Pender (Brad) of Nettleton; sons, Johnny Bourgeois of Grammercy, LA, Jimmy Bourgeois (Terri) of LaPlace, LA, Larry Rowell (Peggy) of Verona, Sammy Rowell (Margo) of Amory, Jody Rowell (Jennifer) of Shannon; sister in law Mary Bourgeois; his 18 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends Amy and Lauren, who helped care for Alvin.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Rowell, Troy Rowell, Jake Self, Brad Pender, Justin Chandler, and Pat McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Samantha Rowell, Stephanie Rowell, Aerial Rowell, Montanna Edwards, and Mary Beth Morgan.
A mass will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Helen’s Church with Father Antony Chakkalakkal, and Sister Lael Niblick officiating. Burial will follow in Coontail Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 P.M. Monday, September 15, 2014, at the funeral home.
