Marilyn Ester Morse Summerford
Marilyn Morse Summerford, 87, passed away at her residence in Smithville on Thursday, October 19, 2023 and was welcomed into heaven by her son and husband. She was born on May 26, 1936, in Tishomingo County, Mississippi to the late Johnny and Blanch Bostick Morse.
Marilyn grew up in a large family with three sisters and four brothers. She graduated from Mantachie High School. Marilyn was a hard working young woman and went to work at an early age. Talented with her hands, she was a seamstress from Monroe Trousers in Smithville for many years. It was at work where she caught the eye of the love of her life, her husband, Robert Summerford. They were married in 1957 and were blessed by God with two children. Her family meant the world to her and she was protective of them all.
Marilyn was Baptist and was saved by Jesus and made a profession of faith at the age of 16. She was a devout Christian whose daily walk was testament of her love for God. Marilyn was always taking care of others, selflessly serving her family, and caring for her dogs. In her downtime, she enjoyed listening to Christian music, sewing clothing and different projects and gardening. Mariliyn was a great wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed greatly.
Her family is so thankful for all the great memories made through the years. They know that she is reunited with her sweetheart and in the presence of God. In that, they take comfort until they see her again.
She is survived by her daughter, Mitzy Summerford Hill, Smithville, MS; granddaughter, Allyson Hill, Amory; sisters, Betty Hood (Wayne), Ozark Community, Carolyn Robles (Cecil), Corpus Christi, TX; a host of nieces and nephews.
