Amory- Johnny F. Gann Sr., 76, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born July 26, 1936, he was a son of the late William Bryant and Ludie Mae Smith Gann.
Johnny grew up in Amory, and graduated from Amory High School. Before becoming disabled, he worked at Mac’s Standard Station, Walker Manufacturing, and was a former constable and Justice of the Peace. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. With a deep love for the Lord and a great singing voice, Johnny served as a song director at Faith Baptist Church for many years, including several other area churches. He enjoyed watching the Fulton Gospel Chanel, collecting pocket knives, fixing and repairing lawn mowers and bicycles.
He is survived by the mother of his 2 sons, Frances Gann, Amory; son, Johnny Gann Jr., Amory; grandchildren, Courtney Gann Mills (Jamie), Ashley Gann Raper (Zach), Alan Todd Gann II (Meagan), Crystal Paige Gann Jones (Donald Jr.), Breanna Jean Gann, and James Cordell Gann; great grandchildren, Aliyah and Abbigail Mills, Dallas and Dakota Jones, and Landon Raper.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Alan Todd Gann I.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 PM, Saturday, May 18 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Wade Cook and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Harlow, John Ritter, Jamie Mills, Joe Franke, Thomas Ritter, and Donald Jones Jr.
Visitation will be from 5 PM- 8 PM, Friday evening at the funeral home.
