Henry Rollins
Henry Virgil Rollins, Jr., 91, left this earth and began his new life in heaven on February 12, 2024. He was born on November 18, 1932, in Memphis, TN to the late Henry V. Rollins, Sr. and Mabel Hill Rollins.
Henry grew up in Shelby County, TN and was saved and baptized at Lamar Heights Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. He went to work as a Commercial Truck Driver at a young age. He was a hard worker and always provided for the family God blessed him with. On July 4, 1953, at the age of 21, Henry married the love of his life, Olene Minor Rollins and they were blessed with four children. Henry worked many years to support his family and at his job he was awarded the Three Million Mile Award for Safe Driving.
After he retired, he and Olene moved to Long Beach, Mississippi and there he was a long time member of First Baptist Church Long Beach. He enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel, especially Bill Gaither Homecoming shows. He was all things family. He was happiest when he had his family around and he was always “DayDay” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one was so special to him and he had special nicknames for his kids and grands.
When he wasn’t with his family, in his free time he like to play music on his guitar, operate ham radios, and fixing just about anything as no mechanical challenge was too hard for him. He was surely talented.
Henry will be missed so much by his family yet they know that he has had a sweet reunion in Heaven. All the great memories made with him will live on in the hearts of his large family.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Moore (Greg), Gulfport, MS; sons, Danny Rollins (Leann), Gulfport, MS and Ricky Rollins (June), Yukon, OK, and Tim Rollins, Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren, Christopher Rollins, Brittney Pickett, Bethany Ferguson, Danalee McConkey, Hillary Farley, Daniel Moore, Caitlin Rocha, Timothy Moore, Stephanie Moore, Erica Wright, Skylar Rollins, Richard Tippitt, Hunter Rollins, Evan Rollins and Mary Katherine Rollins; and 30 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters.
A family graveside Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Greenbrier Cemetery in Becker, Mississippi. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
